Our Holiday programs…

During the 2023 December holidays, we saw more of our children going home to be with their families. For the 30 children who remained at PCH, the show had to go on! The holiday programs were drawn up earlier by our CYCWs who were on duty and requisitions made before the office closed. At PCH, we try and make sure that our children are challenged mentally, get a change to explore new interests and have fun while doing it. This was definitely the order of these holidays. The children had an opportunity to participate in water games, visited and had picnic at the orchard, and Alexandra Park. The children also took the initiative of tiding up their resource center.

Well done to the CYCWs who were on duty for planning and coordinating these wonderful programs. A huge appreciation to our Board and our Director for the New Year’s Eve braai.

Congrats to our Raffle Competition winners!

As part of our fundraising initiative, we ran a raffle competition from the month of November until mid-December. We had amazing prizes proudly sponsored by Road Lodge-PMB and Athlone Manor guesthouse. Congratulations to Nokwanda who won herself a

1st prize- a X2 nights with bed and breakfast for 2 compliments of Road lodge-PMB.

2nd prize winner- Maldred, who won herself a bed and breakfast for 2, for 1-night compliments of Athlone Manor Guesthouse and

3rd prize winner- Debbie Nel for also walking away with a bed and breakfast for 2, for 1-night compliments of Athlone Manor Guesthouse.

Our greatest gratitude goes out to the public for their generous support.

Class of 2023

Congratulations to our class of 2023 for making it. Last year we were blessed with 5 young people who were doing grade 12- 2 young men and 3 ladies. We are pleased to announce that all 5 young people passed with flying colors. We obtained X4 diploma passes and X1 bachelor pass with a distinction in isiZulu.

They are currently awaiting placement at universities as well as approval of their NSFAS. We wish them all the luck in the world as they embark in this journey.

Hollywood Foundation Gives Back…

2023 was kinder to us despite a few challenges we faced. We received generous funding from Hollywood Foundation a division of Hollywood Bets that oversees their corporate social investment with the aim of making a difference in the communities. We were one of the lucky charities approved for funding. Among the items we received, were the much-needed tumble dryer for our central laundry, a gazebo and newly branded banner for or awareness campaigns, new cost saving lighting, 5 additional steel tables for our hall, new latches for our cottage windows and through the lovely discount received on the day of the sales, via Makro PMB, we added in 2 wall fans for our hall.

PCH welcomes…

Mrs. Stacey Sibisi as the new social worker for PCH. Stacey graduated with Honors in Social work in UNISA. She shared that the workload was overwhelming, but she had a strong support structure. Stacey has been practicing for 8 years and she got her first big break at Ekhujabuleni CYCC in 2016 before her graduation day. She then moved to SAVF in 2019 and served there as a placing social worker for 4 years. She joined PCH in January 2024. She has a bubbly personality and is a definite hard worker. She has fitted with our team like a glove, and we are pleased to have her join our team.
