Child Protection Week
This year’s theme was “Let us protect Children during Covid-19 and beyond”. This is commemorated annually in the country as a significant reminder and to raise awareness of the rights of children as articulated in the constitution of the Republic of South Africa and children’s Act (Act no 38). This year child protection week ran from the 28th of May to 04 June 2023. The children had a program to educate each other and us about the true meaning of making it our business to protect them. They divided each other into groups to conduct an excerice and note down the things they need protection from as well as how should parents and gurdians go about making sure that they are protected at all times.
Learning Self-Defence skills
This month, we had the honor of being visited by the Wild Tigers to equip our children with karate self-defense skills. Both our males and females were allowed to participate in this amazing experience. Self-defense has a lot of benefits for the young, the old and all genders. It comes in handy when you are in a difficult situation and need to defend yourself. Studies also show that it boosts your confidence and self-esteem. What an amazing day we had, the Wild Tigers also served lunch and interacted with the children on a one-on one basis.
To the Wild tigers, thank you for sharing your skills
and experience with us!
Youth day celebrations
The youth of 1976 is the generation who became history makers. What started off, as a peaceful march ended in tragedy. This year marked 47 years since the events that unfolded on the streets of Soweto. The children remembered the youth of 1976 by having festivities that celebrated the bravery of all those who perished on that fateful day. The day was filled with songs, dance and poems.

#May we never forget the youth of 1976

A Father’s Love
A day to honor the men who play a father’s role and the men who have a positive influence in the society. The men who stand for good and teach good. Men who are the role models, a superhero and a guide through life. These are the words used by the children to describe fathers. This day was celebrated at AFM church where they shared amazing poems about father figures in their lives. They also got the chance to share scriptures and minister the word of God. Amazing Soulz Choir ended the day with a musical item.
Pictured below is the Choir with their ever-so-dedicated Choir-Master, Sipho Gumede-A Child and Youth Care Worker
and a professional musician.

We love you Dads!
