National Child Protection Week
Protecting Children is Everybody’s Business
|
|
National Child Protection Week is commemorated in the country annually to raise awareness of the rights of children as articulated in the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa and Children’s Act (Act No. 38 of 2005).
The campaign is led by Department of Social Development in partnership with key government departments and civil society organizations
rendering child protection services.
This year’s Child Protection Week Campaign ran from the 31 May to 7 June 2020 under the theme:
“Let us all protect children during COVID-19 and beyond”.
Our Children called on all South Africans to support Child Protection Week by ensuring that the most vulnerable in our society do not suffer abuse. It is in our hands to stop the cycle of neglect, abuse, violence and exploitation of children!

Covid-19 Safety and Prevention
|
|
On the Corona corner we continued to educate our children through numerous programmes, about the the dangers of this virus as well as ways to stay safe. Proper hygiene Protocols as well as social distancing remains the most important tool to use if we are going to combat the spread of Covid-19. During this month we have had the additional planning and preparations for our Grade 12 and Grade 7 learners to return to school, despite our feelings of uncertainty.
During this challenging period, we are faced with many grey areas to manage and many questions that have no answers, however we have to ALL Trust and Pray that we will be kept safe whilst doing our best to ensure the safety and protection of all our staff and children!
May we take this opportunity to send our well wishes and prayers to all our suppliers, donors, well wishers, friends and extended family members of our children
Continue to stay safe wherever you may be!

Youth Day commemorates the Soweto Youth uprising of 16 June 1976.
In 1975 protests started in African schools after a directive from the then Bantu Education Department that Afrikaans had to be used on an equal basis with English as a language of instruction in secondary schools.
This year marked the 44th year since the Uprising and PCH had to commemorate this special day, as it paved a way for many South Africans. The children used this chance, embracing this day with songs, Sarafina dances as well as Poetry, as a means of promoting awareness and educating each other on the history of this event and the valuable lessons taken from it.
