Learn about mulching…

Our senior boys provided tips on things you need to know about mulching. On this day they dedicated their morning to collecting mulching for some parts of the garden that has smaller plants.
Here’s what they had to say:
The right time to mulch- This depends on plant material as well as the weather conditions. Mulching is basically spreading organic matter on the surface of the soil to protect it from weeds. Now, one must always be careful and not mulch around plants that spread and trail such as sweet potatoes and more. Mulching over any existing weeds must be avoided as well, as these can make the weeds healthier and more prolific. They also shared the importance of not mulching too early or too late as this can cause unintended consequences.

Jetting off to Cape Town

This month one of our young shining stars got a once in a lifetime opportunity. Mr W is our 18-year-old soccer star who developed the love for soccer at a tender age. He has played under the Mountain Rise Astro league under 15- PCH united, Woodlands Community team as well as his school team. In March he received an invitation to tour and play the Easter tournament in Cape town, making him the second PCH star to get a chance of touring another city. He was privileged to spend a whole week in Cape Town with his other teammates and had the wonderful opportunity of
meeting other soccer stars from all over South Africa.
A huge appreciation to the Management and Board of Directors for making this possible as well as everyone that contributed towards making his trip special.

Happy Easters!

Easter marks the resurrection of Jesus Christ 3 days after his death by crucifixion. To many Christians around the world this represents the fulfillment of prophecies of the Old Testament and the revelation of God’s salvific plan for all mankind. At PCH, our Easter friday was a day to remember the last 7 words of our Lord Jesus Christ on the cross. The children shared different scriptures where these verses are found and what they meant for them. On Sunday, they had another service and gave thanks for the love and mercy shown by our Lord.

Birthday Blessings program

Kidditivity is our new partner who has come on board to make our children’s birthdays extra special. This month we celebrated a total of 17 birthdays under the Birthday Blessings program. This program aims to ensure that every child celebrates their Birthday in a special way. The children enjoyed face painting, snacks, cake and much more fun activities with Mr Clown. They also ech received an individual personalized gift. A huge gratitude once again goes to each and every donor that donates in either cash or kind towards the success of this program, and to Kiddivity for coordinating these memorable days.
