Spring is Here!
Spring is associated with a fresh start, flowers are blooming, the trees are green, the weather is warm and sunny, and we experience spring showers. When we think spring, we think freshness and cleanliness and that is why during this month, the Little Angels and Cartoons cottages dedicated their morning to spring cleaning their respective cottages. The windows were cleaned, the linen cupboard tidied up. Study shows that giving children age-appropriate chores and providing them with a reward for cleaning can be a helpful way to drum up motivation and make the cleaning process more fun. As part of the spring initiative, the cottages also made time to water the gardens and fruit trees.
Well done juniors for your wonderful Spring initiatives!
Spring Day Activities
Often, we have welcomed spring by planting various trees. This year we opted for something different. The children had spring programs in their respective cottages. Each cottage was in charge of planning and executing their own program. Little angels opted to remind us that it was God who created everything (Genesis 1:1), spring with its beautiful flowers and sunshine was made with love by He, who sits on the throne. Cartoons opted to write and recite their own spring poems.

Celebrating our Heritage
A day to embrace and celebrate the true meaning of why we call ourselves the rainbow nation. Heritage started as Shaka Day, which commemorated the legendary King Shaka Zulu. The holiday name then changed to Heritage Day in 1995. Nowadays, this holiday involves South Africans marking the day by wearing traditional outfits, eating traditional food, learning about different cultures and spending time with the loved ones. At PCH we did exactly that, we started the day with traditional meal preparations and headed to the hall for the festivities of the day. A day filled with lots of songs, dance, singing and looking at our heritage and how far we have come as different beings with the same look on culture and tradition.
Meet our passionate artist
Our young person, Mr. S is a 15-year-old young man who is very passionate about art. This is reflected in this perfect drawing of our driver done from just looking at his picture. S choose not to join other teens for soccer and rather stayed back to attend a creative arts class where he produced an amazing piece of work. We are very proud of our young man and trust that his natural talents will be nurtured and grow whilst with us.
Transactions simplified
Transactions made with simplicity. We often encounter people who want to purchase or make a donation on the spot and the problem is always the fact that we don’t have a card machine to complete this transaction. That is why we have a new and quick way to make payment. It’s simple as 123…remember to tap, swipe or insert your card to complete a transaction.
KFC-Add Hope
This initiative partners with over 138  beneficiaries to ensure that children are receiving a nutritious meal daily. Add Hope raises money through customer donations added at the till or on the Add Hope website, as well as donating a percentage of KFC profits as its own Corporate social responsibility.
This is how it works:
When buying a meal you simply Add R2 for Add Hope to your bill…
Donations are also made by KFC…All that donations goes to the KFC Social Responsibility Trust…who then allocates to suitable applicants
through the Add Hope Ccampaign.
(This Campaign feeds nutritious meals to over 120 000 children every day in South Africa, and PCH is one of their beneficiaries)

Your R2 really does go a long way, and reaches us
to serve our children on a daily basis, so don’t hesitate to make your R2 pledge today!
The more you contribute to this campaign the better for us in the sector who service vulnerable children, as we are able to receive an increased allocation based on the value of the fund.
