Pharmacy month

The month of September was Pharmacy month. We had an opportunity to be visited by X2 healthcare facilities to teach our children on pharmaceuticals. Eastboom Clinic were the 1st to arrive and encouraged the children to consider going into the health field and should they decide to pursue it, guided them on which subjects are required for tertiary studies. Our children enjoyed lovely treats as well as the toiletries received. Northdale hospital pharmacy also visited, and they instilled some important hygiene lessons to our children, including proper usage of toothbrushes and brushing. Thank you to both our Health partners who helped instill important life skills in our children!

Heritage Celebrations

Once again, the time to dust off those traditional outfits has come. In South Africa, Heritage Day is celebrated to recognize the cultural diversity rainbow nation that takes pride in their culture. The children spent this day showcasing their culture and why they are proud to be a part of this rainbow nation. They celebrated with Indlamu and Zulu dancing to their favorite songs. What stood out was their pride in isintu.

A huge appreciation goes to the CYCWs for their part in making this day a success.

AVP is the way

Problems form a huge part of our everyday lives. Solving them in a non-violent manner determines the kind of person you are. AVP has recently partnered with PCH to educate the children in understanding different ways to solve problems, as part of an anti-violence campaign. A 3-day workshop during the school holidays looked at various topics such as dealing with conflict, self-awareness, goal setting, conflict management and transforming power. This program also taught young people to be peace agencies. The children participated well in this program and at the end of it all, they were awarded with certificates.

A huge appreciation goes to the AVP team for their dedication,

as well as our children for being an engaging audience.

Donor Appreciation corner

These past few months have been difficult for all the CYCCs in KZN with our department subsidies not paid to us on time, as well the impact of extremely high costs of living. We are glad we still have YOU to continue assisting us with such items that help cut costs for our organization, enabling us to continue with the work that we do.
